Take time to be curious at our Couple Therapy Summer School (16–19 July 2024)

Published in Blog by Andrew Balfour on March 12th 2024

Andrew Balfour, TR’s Chief Executive, explains why our Psychoanalytic Couple Therapy Summer School is fast becoming a must-attend event for couple therapists from all over the world.

For four days in July, we offer couple therapists the opportunity to immerse themselves in the cutting-edge thinking which defines Tavistock Relationships’ world-recognised therapeutic approach. In a fast-moving world, this is an opportunity for psychotherapists to spend time learning with colleagues from TR, exchanging ideas with one another and reflecting on their own practice.

The four-day event takes place at our premises in central London and is a wonderful opportunity to meet and mix with like-minded people who are curious about new, evolving and established modes of therapeutic thinking.

We’ve been running this summer programme for many years, and it attracts a diverse and international group of psychotherapists. In the past we have had attendees from far as afield China, South Africa, Australia and the US. The four-day event takes place at our premises in central London and is a wonderful opportunity to meet and mix with like-minded people who are curious about new, evolving and established modes of therapeutic thinking. Throughout the programme theoretical seminars are interspersed with twice-daily intensive clinical discussion groups, offering a wonderful learning opportunity.

This year we will be exploring the couple relationship at key points in the life cycle, looking at developmental obstacles to forming and sustaining intimate relationships, from the difficulties of parenthood to the challenges of later life.

While this is an intensive learning experience, there are plenty of opportunities for social interaction and networking, including an evening theatre trip which we discuss in the seminar the following day. This is an in-person event with limited places so, if you are interested, early booking is recommended! The application process is now open:
